Introduction This tutorial will make a background inside of a building.
Tutorial First off, open a new document in flash.
Then choose the Rectangle tool
And draw a rectangle, it doesn't matter how big it is, or where it is. Now double-click it so it's highlighted.
Then go to "Properties > Shape"
And change W (Width) to the width of your movie, and H (Height) to the height of your movie. I'm using 450 (width) x 250 (height). Also change X and Y to 0, so that our rectangle will be located exactly in the center of our animating stage.
It will now look like this (If you used the same height and width as i do.)
Now it's time to draw the lines for the background. Start by a line from end to end like this:
Then add some lines, first one should be a little higher than the second one, like this:
Now we wanna do another effect, like a door. So do some lines like this:
Then remove the lines inside the door. Now we're gonna choose some color. I'm choosing a light Grey blue for the walls like #D5DADD, and a white-gray color for the door, like #EAEAEA. So it will now look like this:
Now it's time to give the lines a color, that hasn't. So for them, choose the color that you had for the walls, and make them gray, using the Color mixer, and make them a little bit darker (#999999) also, so it will look something like this:
Then fill in that color for the bottom rectangle, and then make that color a little bit brighter (#B7B7B7) and insert it for the upper rectangle, like this:
Now, it's time to do the color for the floor. For that, make a new layer above the one we have now, and call it Floor or something. (You can name the other layer like Background or something, to).
Then choose a color like #DDDDDD, and fill in the floor with that color. So it will look like this so far:
Now it's time to do shadings. Remember, it's very important that you remember to switch between the layers when you draw the shadings. So we'll go to the "Background" layer now and do some shadings. (You go to it by clicking it) Now draw some lines, and follows the current ones we have at the moment, like this:
Then fill them in with a darker color than it is now, like #A6B3B7 or something, and then delete the lines. Now, just do some other shadings, also inside the door and the small rectangle boxes we have. You can also do a little effect to the door, it doesn't matter though, so it looks something like this:
Now go to the "Floor" layer (by clicking it) and also make a shade there. You do it just by making a line go just a little under the "Background" layers lines, and just fill it in like this: (Don't mind the colors, it's because it's a .gif they look the way they do)
Now we're gonna blur some of the background, if you don't have flash 8, then look for "Older flash"
Flash 8
Go back to the "Backgrounds" layer, highlight it, and press f8 to convert it to a symbol. Convert it to a movie clip, and call it "Background" or something, it doesn't really matter.
Now click it, and to the right of "Properties" it says "Filters". Click there, and click the "+ sign" and a drop-up menu will appear. Select "Blur".
Then it should say:
"Blur X: 5"
"Blur Y: 5"
Just keep it that way, and the background will now look like this:
Older Flash
Now, only if you're using an older version than Flash 8 or don't have flash 8, then you need Adobe Photoshop to do this. Save your "Background" Layers images as a .png (gives best quality when exporting from Flash). Then open it in Photoshop, and go:
Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and select 2 or 3. (I wont post screen shots since my version is in danish). Then overwrite the .png you took from flash, and import it to flash again.
Then you're done, and the finished product:
